Foreign Exchange Student Program
Denver Public Schools welcomes high school students every year from countries around the globe to come and study for a semester or a full year. DPS accepts students with either F-1 or J-1 visas.
Students who wish to study in DPS on a J-1 visa must come through an Approved Exchange Agency. Students who wish to study in DPS on a F-1 visa should email Enrollment Services at foreignexchange@dpsk12.net.
Denver Public Schools will begin accepting requests for the 2024-25 school year starting April 8 and running through July 19, 2024 via email only at foreignexchange@dpsk12.net. The Designated School Official will review exchange student applications and forward them on to the school for consideration. This process may take up to 30 days. Do not contact schools directly with questions or applications.
Students who are interested in our program may be eligible to attend one of our high schools if all the following applies:
Student will be entering either 10th or 11th grade, and will attend one or two semesters only.
Student must be under 18 years of age when starting school year/semester.
Student MUST be proficient in English.
Student must reside with a family within the DPS boundary.
Required Documentation:
Translated transcript of student grades (student must have a 3.0 or higher grade point average)
Student profile (detailed information about the student, legal full name, current address, date of birth, city of birth, country of birth, grade entering the US)
Letter of application (personal handwritten letter from student as to why he/she would like to attend school at DPS)
Birth certificate or passport
Immunization records
Medical insurance (the student’s current health insurance must include coverage in the United States for the duration of status or the host parent must add the student to their coverage as a temporary dependent)
